A new study is showing that divorce may be harder for boys to deal with than girls. The study shows that boys whose parents divorce before the age 18 are two to three times more likely to consider taking their own lives than men whose parents did not divorce before that age.
Women whose parents divorced before the age 18 also consider taking their own lives more than woman whose parent did not, but it is usually connected to another traumatic experience that they had.
Researchers in the study noted that mothers generally get more custody than fathers, so the lack of contact with fathers may take a developmental toll on sons and the lack of a male role model can have a life-changing effects on them.

Local attorneys in California have said that the costs associated with getting divorced in California are on the rise.
Because of new rules that have been put on the books in California, the cost to get divorced may go up. Now, every person who is getting a divorce has a right to speak in court so you have to do an oral testimony unless both sides decide to opt out.
Instead of written statements they can speak their case and can have others, such as grandparents, aunts and uncles, speak on their behalf.
A hearing could now run into several hours and with all the cases to handle, some areas are behind by almost a month. Some think that the rising costs could lead people to rethink their divorce or resolve their issues in mediation.
